“A flavour of foie gras without the cruelty”

As reported in the Waitrose weekly newspaper “Weekend” 1st August 2019, Foie Royale is now available in selected Waitrose stores, with plans to extend distribution to more stores later in the year. Waitrose describes Foie Royale as “An ethical pâté that promises all the flavour of foie gras but with none of the cruelty…”.

Waitrose & Partners banned the sale of foie gras in 2001 but have decided to stock Foie Royale as the product is produced with no animal cruelty, the rich decadence of the original being achieved through science rather than forced feeding.

The article quotes Waitrose partner and buyer David Stone who says “Its a great quality product and we’re proud to be the first UK retailer to stock it. I recommend serving it at room temperature on toasted brioche – its delicious.”
